Today the tour took us from our picturesque camp spot at lac du St Croix, through the Pallud sur Verdon, along the Route de Crete, through Castellano where we had a double sunset and ended up in the lovely town of Greolieres.

The Gorges Du Verdon (in French: Les Gorges du Verdon or Grand canyon du Verdon), in south-eastern France (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), is a river canyon that is often considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful. It is about 25 kilometres long and up to 700 metres deep. It was formed by the Verdon River, which is named for its startling turquoise-green colour, one of the location's distinguishing characteristics. The most impressive part lies between the towns of Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, where the river has cut a ravine to a depth of 700 metres through the limestone mass. At the end of the canyon, the Verdon River flows into the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon (in French: Lac de Sainte-Croix).
Even though the road was closed for the season, a local hotelier/coffee shop owner told us to drive around the barricades and travel at our own risk to see the spectacular gorge du Verdon

From the outlook we could see as far as the Mediterranean. Pretty obvious with the road being closed we had the whole Canyon to ourselves. We can only imagine the zoo that must be going on during high season, we love off season.
On our descent down into Castellane, the scenery did not relent. A nice lunch spot and some company.

We did not seem to catch the vibe in the town of Castellane, But on the map we could see that there was a lake of some sort just outside the town. Just in time we backed M'aider into the sunset on little parking spot next to the lake.

It's Thanksgiving. M'aider has treated us great on this trip so far, perfect reason to back her up into the sunset and pop some champagne
Wow. All of this in one day. As I review our day's endeavors, I can't believe the road we have traveled. The people we met – English speakers from the UK – Bob and Chris P welcomed us into this humble abode of a town where paragliding takes flight. Unfortunately we were unable to fly, but we did get to see the take off and the landing zone for our next adventure in the future.
